In my writing part of A2 I would like to discuss something like "Representation of women and men in advertising" I thought about some ads of L'Oreal. They are always with beautiful, young, successful and famous women for example with Eva Longoria or Beyoncé. Women want to but products of L'oreal because these celebrities symbolizes fame and glamour and women want to be like that.
It's the same with Tiger Woods, Thierry Henry and Roger Federer. They are famous and strong and men want to be like this. So these 3 sportsmen are perfekt for the Gillette ad.
_

PS: I found a really good video about television.

The Killers

A few days ago, I watched "The Killers" directed by Robert Siodmak. It's a "Film Noir" movie and its amazing. The whole movie is in black and white. You can see a lot contrast and shadows are everywhere.
A really interesting thing is that every time a person gets killed, you can't see it. There are incredible shots, they show that someone is dying but you can't see blood or anything else.
The movie shows some good stereotypes. The always relaxed 'cool' guy and a sexy woman.

Today i found some videos on youtube with typical men or female sports.

Ballet - in my opinion a sport for women, but in this video performed by a man.
Kickboxing - a sport for men, but in this video two girls are fighting.

I'd love to open my film with two scence like this.

Film Noir

I just watched an interesting reportage called 'The Rules of Film Noir'. It shows the power of women in the 'Film Noir' films. Voice overs and some really good sequences from different movies. The reportage explains for example why the shots are so dark and how the style of the Film Noir films changed.
I think I could use a lot of the techniques for my practical work and I think I'll try to analyze a full Film Noir Movie.

8 useful websites

I found some websites that relate to my project.
    • I haven't read of all of it yet but it's a really good article about the development from feminism to anti-feminists. It's useful for my project because I need to find some anti-hegemonic stereotypes.
    • A wikipedia-site about gender roles it relates to my project because I'd like to talk about gender roles, stereotypes, anti-hegemonic behavior.
    • An article about Lady Gaga, she will be a part of my study and this is an interesting text about her own challenging
    • Gaga's opinion about feminism
    • A good article about role models.
    • Some good, representations. I could use them for my theoretical stuff.
    • Another Role Model, Madonna.
    • I would like to try some filming like this.

And a YouTube video about gender stereotypes.

    My Project Idea

That's the new Lady Gaga video. I really like it because of the anti-hegemonic structure. Lady Gaga represents a very male version of herself and the soldiers around her seem female.
I think it's really interesting and challenges the audience. I would like to do something similar in my piece next year.

It could be an advertisement for a female right organization. I could connect the film by Adam Berg and this video. At the beginning two persons could stand still and you could see the female characteristics of the boy/men and the male side of the women/girl. The music starts and everything begins to move, then the audience can see many different, anti-hegemonic situations with male girls and female boys. In the end there could be a sentence like "Could you live in a world like this?".

    First Post. :)

This is the first post I’ve made and it’s to introduce myself and to talk about the ideas and hopes I have for my Media A2 Course.

Firstly, I hope I learn a lot of new and interesting things during the course and secondly I hope I will end the course with good results so that I can go to a university and study art and media.
I thought about my course work and I loved themes like:

    • Controversy, Sexuality and Gender in pop music- Lady Gaga..
    • Advertising and Children

But than I thought about one of my favourite you tube videos, it‘s Philips Carousel by Adam Berg.
Well, I have to think about it. :)
